​Commencing with 15 mins enjoying the waterfowl in the Basin, then a stroll by the canal.
​
Park on the side of the road close to the entrance of Frisby Fishing Club.

Park in the village, and meet at the church

The Wood lies to the south of Old Dalby village. It is a beautiful place for a stroll in spring, with wild flowers and stunning views.

THE OUTWOODS, WOODHOUSE EAVES
Syston Road, Cossington, LE7 4UZ​
40 hectares of ancient wood and visitor attraction overlooking Loughborough and the Soar Valley. It has rare rock outcrops, many species of woodland plants and substantial wildlife, and it is part of Beacon Hill.

PRIOR'S COPPICE NATURE RESERVE

A woodland reserve teeming with wildlife and ancient atmosphere, Prior’s Coppice is a relic of the wildwood that once covered all of Leicestershire and Rutland. When you step beneath the trees, you can feel how old this remnant of woodland is.

BROOKE HILL WOODS

Access via the main car park on your right after passing Brooke Hill Academy, immediately after 20 MPH signs.

Young flourishing woodland overlooking Rutland Water is full of life; invertebrates that flock here in summer, barn owls and red kites, plus a variety of plant species.​​​

SWITHLAND WOOD & THE BRAND

This is apparently a gem of a place to visit.
​
Historical Site: Cambrian period/around 541 million years ago. The wood is Leicestershire’s most important ancient woodland for nature conservation. Quarries within the wood were a source of the distinctive Swithland Slate.

A real gem in the heart of Charnwood Forest, this reserve offers a wide variety of habitats to explore. Whether you’re a birdwatcher, a botanist or just looking for a nature reserve to really explore, Ulverscroft is the perfect place to get away from it all for a few hours.
